Mixed Media Anthotypes
2023 - Present
Anthotypes are some of the earliest color photography. Here, I make mine with fresh plant material from my garden (leaves, flowers, fruits, etc) which are blended with water, strained, and applied in layers on Reeves BFK. The colorful paper and then left outside on a sunny day to create a contact print of whatever plant material was left on top. Sometimes I leave the paper outside to catch raindrops or hand embellish with baking soda water or ink. The results are ephemeral as light and oxygen shift the colors over time.
